1. Turn the theme into one sentence
Before opening the catalog, describe the look as “a character who…” or “a look for…”. This keeps every item connected to the voted theme and helps when the prompt is unfamiliar.
2. Choose the silhouette first
Decide whether the overall shape should feel sharp, soft, oversized, compact, formal or sporty. A readable silhouette carries the idea even when individual items are hard to see at runway distance.
3. Use a small color story
Pick one dominant color and one supporting accent, with neutrals only where they help connect the pieces. More colors are not evidence of a higher rating; this is simply a way to make the look coherent.
4. Give the look one focal point
Let the face, headwear, shoulders, hands or shoes lead. Remove details that compete with the focal point, then check whether the pose or emote hides it.
5. Run the distance check
- Can another player name the theme from the overall shape?
- Does one color dominate while the accent supports it?
- Is the focal detail still visible during presentation?
- Would removing one accessory make the idea clearer?
